Coeliac Disease in Children and Young People under age 18 years

Project Description and Aim

To determine the incidence of childhood Coeliac Disease in Scotland by identifying patients under the age of 18 years with positive serology diagnosed by Scottish Paediatricians. To gather follow up information on those identified.

Case Definition of Coeliac Disease

Patients with positive Coeliac screening serology - tTG (tissue transglutaminase) or EmA (Endomysial antibody) based on the normal range of the reporting laboratory used by the clinician.

Reporting Instructions

All patients under the age of 18 with positive Coeliac screening serology diagnosed over the previous month.

  • Children and young people (0-18 years) with positive serology for Coeliac disease.
