Adverse Drug Reaction

Project Description and Aim

To determine the frequency of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) in children in Scotland and the drugs involved

Case Definition of ADR

A reaction to a medicine that is adverse to the patients wellbeing and unintended from its prescription

Reporting Instructions

Report any medicine/drug that causes a reaction that:

    1. Precipitates admission  
    2. Delays discharge                      
    3. Causes modification of the child’s treatment other than cessation or reduction of the drug concerned

Inclusion Criteria

  • All Adverse reactions in children under the age of 16 years
