STRADDLE INJURY

Project Description and Aim

This project is designed to determine the incidence and causes of and the component injuries that occur with straddle injuries (injuries to the perineum, genitalia – male and female – and anal regions) in Scotland

Definition of Straddle Injury

Injury caused by falling astride an object or from trauma between the legs

Reporting Instructions

  • Children (age 0 - 16 years inclusive) who are admitted to hospital that meet the case definition. These children will usually, but not necessarily, be admitted via A&E departments.
